Crate Amplifiers are a company that make electronic guitar Amplifiers and audio equipment. They are mainland US based, although their amps are produced in Puerto Rico to reduce costs and overheads.
The company has a very specific philosophy, simply to put musicians first. This means they make versatile amps which are very innovative and are really admired by both critics in the industry and music players. The engineers at Crate are all keen guitarists, and so really know what users need and what they themselves would like to have from an amp.
As a company they are really craftsmen
of tone. They are great at listening,
and that is not only to sound, but also to the insight and advice of their
musician colleagues. Their extensive experience is a major driver for each
piece of equipment that they produce.
In the seventies, Crate actually produced amps that resembled wood crates, and they had similar handles to the ones put on army footlockers.
Well known users of Crate Amplifiers include Al Jourgensen, Billy F. Gibbons, Bobby Adams, C.C. DeVille,
Edsel Dope and Fletcher Dragg.
The Crate amplifier range currently includes,
Tour packs —This is a pack for those just getting started with a low cost.
